CILTHK Joint Seminar: On-going Plan for the Three –Runway System Project, Hong Kong International Airport
19 November, 2015 (Thursday)
To meet future air traffic growth, the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has been planning to expand Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) into a Three-Runway System (3RS). Despite the continuous challenging global economic environment, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has been experiencing phenomenal growth in air traffic. In 2014, HKIA handled 63.3 million passengers, 4.38 million tonnes of cargo and 391,000 flight movements, representing annual growth of 5.7%, 6% and 5.1% respectively. To enhance the handling capacity, HKIA has embarked upon medium to long-term projects for expansion of the existing infrastructure and facilities at HKIA. This seminar will provide an overview and progress update of the Three-Runway System Project.
